At least 11 people have been confirmed dead. Will update you as I get more info. Sad day
Ferguson, in a US interview aired Monday night on PBS, said he was content to stay retired and not fretting over the current two wins, three losses and one draw of the club he guided from 1986 until retiring earlier this year.
"I'm not interested in managing again or getting myself worked up about Manchester United's results," Ferguson said.
"United are in good hands with David Moyes. He will be fine. He is a good manager."
Ferguson, 71, also said he rejected overtures from Chelsea when Roman Abramovich took over the London-based club.
"I always come back to this point — why would you leave United?" Ferguson said.
Ferguson said he wants to visit vineyards in France and Italy and see sports events like golf's Masters and horse racing's Kentucky Derby in his retirement.
"I made my decision," Ferguson said. "The timing was perfect. There's no way back for me now. I've got a new life."
Ferguson said he always told players at half-time "the last 15 minutes, throw the kitchen sink", and said one of his governing philosophies was to "never hold a grudge. It's very important"
The Global AgeWatch Index ranked 91 countries, with Nigeria ranked 85th, the sixth worst, with a poor record of catering for the well-being of the elderly, people older than 60.
Though Nigeria has the highest GDP among the African Index countries, it ranks third lowest for income security, the report said.
"This reflects its limited pension coverage, at 5 per cent. It ranks 84th in the health domain and, with Rwanda, has the lowest life expectancy at age 60 – 16 years.
"For employment and education, Nigeria ranks 70 with the fourth highest proportion of older people, 17.4%, with secondary or higher education among its African Index counterparts.
"Nigeria ranks second lowest regionally, at 76, in the enabling environment domain, with only 53% of older Nigerians enjoying civic freedom.
The report indicated that older Nigerians are taking part in the Age Demands Action campaign for the first time this year.
In contrast, Sweden offers the best environment to grow old. Expectedly, Afghanistan is the worst – but general affluence does not necessarily mean better conditions for the over-60s, reports the London Guardian.
While Sweden's top ranking – followed by Norway, Germany, the Netherlands and Canada – may be predictable, the Global AgeWatch index throws up some surprising results.
The US, the world's richest country, languishes in eighth place, while the UK fails to make the top 10, residing instead at No 13. Sri Lanka ranks 36, well above Pakistan at 89, despite similar levels of gross domestic product (GDP). Bolivia and Mauritius score higher than the size of their economies may suggest, while the emerging economies of Brazil, Russia, India and China are a mixed bag. Brazil and China rank relatively high on the index; India and Russia sit much lower.
The ageing index is calculated using 13 indicators under four headings: income security, healthcare, employment and education, and an enabling environment. All indicators have equal weight, except for pension income coverage, life expectancy at 60, healthy life expectancy at 60, and psychological wellbeing. These categories were given increased weighting because of better data quality, and countries were included only if there was sufficient data.

Governor Fashola said:
“This was the study of night life carried out by the government in five local governments including Agege, Mushin, Ifako-Ijaiye and Ikeja and another local government. It showed that more than N36 billion was spent on 1555 parties held within the period. We did a study between October and November last year. We studied from Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, three days every week for four weeks which was 12 nights. In 12 nights, 1555 parties were held in these local governments. In terms of drinks, food and all other engagements during such parties, about N1.2 billion was spent and when we dis-aggregated them we saw how much went to DJ, MC, food and drinks, the total picture in the state now and I don’t want to give you a wrong number but it’s something in the region of about N3 billion monthly on that side of our life and people are playing and impacting on that side of our economy. The governor further stated that Aso Ebi alone gulped a minimum of N1.2billion monthly.

It was claimed yesterday that the terror attack in Kenya was being led by Samantha, the widow of one of the 7/7 bombers, Jermaine Lindsay, who with 3 others killed 52 people in a series of co-ordinated suicide attacks in London using the public transport system during the morning rush hour in 2005.
Soldiers said a white woman wearing a veil was shouting orders to gunmen in Arabic during the bloody massacre inside the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi on Saturday.
Samantha may have been killed today as a dead white woman was found among Islamic terrorists killed by soldiers as they stormed the mall this evening. Kenyan authorities haven't confirmed that the woman is really Samantha. Her name was first linked to the attack after Al Shabaab praised her on their Twitter account for leading the attack at Westgate mall.
Moments after the news of Samantha's demise broke, Al Shabaab, took to Twitter to claim that she's safe. Eleven soldiers were also wounded in the fight with the terrorists this evening. Kenyan police said that more than 200 civilians were rescued as troops took control of all the floors of the mal

Muslim women and scholars have reacted to the pageant. Some feel the pageant violated the Islamic rule on women, while others say it's a welcome development. See their reactions after the cut...
Islamic activist, Professor Lakin Akintola released a press statement commending the organizers of the pageant as well as felicitating with the winner. Professor Akintola said:
"We align with the contest in view of the fact that the criteria were not indecent exposure and provocative postures. The contestants were tested in the areas of recitation of the Glorious Qur'an, Islamic biography, Islamic jurisprudence and current affairs. The event has also proved beyond reasonable doubt that Islam doesn't repress its women neither does it push them to the background. The event has added another feather to the cap of Nigeria and the African continent as a whole. However some other scholars have expressed their opinions against the pageant saying "Muslimah beauty is for the husband to see not the world."
Faraq Musadiq, the president of the Muslim Student Society of Nigeria, UNILAG chapter said:
Regardless of the goodness the organizers claim they are trying to achieve with it, the means is totally unlawful and both the end and the means must be justifiable by Islam. finally the prophet made it clear when he said "Whoever copies a group is part of them"Also speaking against the pageant, the President of the Muslim Students's Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Lagos Area Unit, Alhaji Qasim Badrudeen said
"We cant commend such act because it is not part of our religion. Our niqab (veil) is not for beauty contest. It is for modesty. Hijab is our epitome of honor and should be treated as such. It should not be used for a dog-to-play thing and we must know that because some people are doing it doesn't mean we should do it. Remember what our prophet said, anyone that behaves like them is one of them.Aboo aamir al-Atharee, a popular Ede, Osun state Muslim Scholar said the Paegent is madness, foolishness, craziness, corruption of land calling to lewdness and obscenity. He said
A scholar for the pageant said:"May Allah help Eka Ashanti, the Indonesian chief organizer of the contest to quick repentance".
"It is a good initiative but I don't support the word 'beauty contest' because there's nothing like that in Islam. They should have tagged it 'The World Quranic Competition or something else instead of pageant"Aisha Zarumi described the pageant as a sinful act in the sight of Allah. She said
"It is madness of the highest order. Innovation is spreading everywhere. End time is near and the future of our kids is at stake. It is a horrible act, very shameful"Abiodun Subair said
"It is not what you contest for, simply because others are doing it. Do we really have to follow Christians in everything they do, even when it leads to doom? This is un-Islamic. We are described as the best ummah, so we are meant to be imitated, not imitating or copying people ignorantly.
Kenya Mall Attack: Nigerian Shoppers Demand Better Security In Malls
Following the terrorist attacks on the Westgate Shopping Mall in Nairobi, Kenya that left scores of Kenyans and foreigners dead, shopping mall patrons in the country are apprehensive that a similar incident may happen in Nigeria because most of the plazas are not adequately secured.
Though activities at most of the malls in Lagos were not significantly affected by the events in the East African country, many of the customers who spoke with our correspondents were apprehensive of similar attacks, especially because of the high level of insecurity in some parts of the country.
A customer at the Ikeja Shopping Mall, who identified himself as Mr. John Akeigbe, decried the inadequate security in most Nigerian shopping malls and advised that something urgent must be done to protect shoppers from attacks.
“This is terrible. The state of security in shopping malls in the country is appalling. Are we not supposed to learn from what happened in Kenya? All everybody is after in Nigeria is making profit. They just believe that when they put air conditioners in their shops, people will patronise them,” he said.
Another customer, Mary Chinazor, said, “This is a wake-up call for us. I hope very soon we will not begin to be threatened by Boko Haram. Funny enough, most malls in Nigeria are not well secured.”
At The Palms in Lekki, one of our correspondents observed that customers and vehicles were moving in and out of the mall freely without security checks.
A banker, Mr. Odinaka Ejiofor, who said he was taken aback by the situation, decried the inadequate security at shopping malls in the country and urged the government to address the problem.
He said though shopping malls all over the world were usually not heavily guarded by security personnel, he cautioned that the recent development in Kenya called for a re-think.
Some of the customers told us that though the Kenyan incident was tragic, it had not affected their shopping habits.
One of them, Mr. Tunde Ige, said, “It doesn’t change anything for me. There is nothing different.”
Asked if he felt such an incident could happen in Nigeria, he said, “This is Africa, anything can happen.”
A manager at the Sony Centre in the mall, who gave his name simply as Wale, said since the news of the incident broke, there had been no noticeable change in the security setup there.
In terms of patronage, he said, “I have not heard customers talking about it (the attack), but from what I observed personally, there have been less people in the mall; you can see for yourself.”
However, Ms. Marvel Echigeme, who operates a Silverline Life-Style Stores, said she had not noticed any change in activities at the mall.
She added that she was not afraid of going to work at the mall everyday.
This, she explained, was because there was a good security structure at the mall already and staying at home or being afraid would not stop bad things from happening.
A manager at Twice As Nice, a boutique, Bola Oyegbola, shared a similar sentiment.
Oyegbola, who said there was no change in activities, explained that security was already efficient at the mall.
When our correspondent tried to reach the management of the mall for comment, he was asked to write a letter to that effect
Many of the customers, who spoke with us , urged the government as well as operators of the shopping malls across the country to improve on security ahead of the October 1 Independence Day celebrations.
They noted that shopping malls were usually crowded on public holidays and warned the government to ensure that adequate security was provided to forestall the repeat of the Kenya mall attack in Nigeria.
While some shoppers at the E-Centre Shopping Mall, popularly known as the Ozone Cinema, Sabo, Yaba, called on the federal and state governments to beef up security at the boarders, others said it was impossible to experience what happened in Kenya in Lagos.
A shopper, who identified himself as Toun Adeleke, said there was the need to scrutinise vehicles coming into Lagos State to avoid such an occurrence.
She said, “What happened in Kenya is not impossible in Nigeria. I’m sure the Kenyans were not expecting it, either. With the way terrorism is growing in Nigeria, such occurrence should not be ruled out.”
A student of University of Lagos, Kayode Adedayo, said the government should strengthen security at the boarders.
Speaking differently, one of the shop owners in the mall, Mr. Kingsley Anah, said, “I don’t see the Kenyan scenario playing out in Nigeria. It will be difficult for Boko Haram or any terrorist group to move around with such heavy weapons and resources in this city.”
Our correspondents’ checks, however, revealed that shopping malls in Lagos had already alerted their security arrangements as a result of the Kenyan attack.
One of our correspondents, who spoke with senior security officials at the Ikeja Shopping Mall, was told that security personnel had been put on the alert for any unforeseen development.
The shopping complex, according to a security supervisor who asked not to be named, will also leverage technology solutions such as CCTV to ensure that shoppers are safe while at the mall. -Punch

Dear LIB readers: I have had sex with 4 men, is that too much for an 18 year old?
I am 18 years old and in my second year in a private university. I started having sex when I turned 16 after leaving secondary school and I have had four sexual partners so far. I dated 2 of the boys while the other 2 were just flings. Recently I confided in a friend the number of men I've been with and I later saw text exchanges between her and another mutual friend of ours laughing at me and criticizing me. They called me all sorts of names including wayward and loose. I've been with only four men, is that too much for a girl my age? I thought it was the norm so why are my friends condemning me and passing the info around?Four sexual partners at 18? That's waaaay to much! My opinion. What do guys you think?
Late Prophet Ajanaku Was A Chronic Liar,A Debtor Not A Man of God, Sleeps With His Female Aides - Close Aide
The first day I saw him, I was not attracted to him because of his physical look. He bleached. However, when my boss who was one of his church members introduced me to him, he prayed for me. My decision to visit his church was based on curiosity. That was in 2007. Sincerely, there is no way you won't marvel at his preaching. He preached with persuasive and authoritative words.
I was wowed. And that was when he was about completing his multi-million naira mansion. And most of the church members volunteered to assist the builders. He asked me to work for God in his house and do the furniture.
I can't lie to you, when Prophet Ajanaku spoke you would think it was God. His church members saw him as god. He often told us that he wines and dines with God and that if he wants anybody to die tomorrow, it would happen. We all respected and feared him. You dare not say no to his request.
He said he had the power to save someone from ultimate death.
My decision to open up was not to malign his character but be factual. Even before his death, I confessed this feat openly to him. I can't doubt his power but not as a Christian.
For instance, someone came to see him. He said some people predicted he was going to die at a certain date. Thus, he was warned not to go out. Prophet Ajanaku closed his eyes for a minute and the next moment said the man should go out that day that nothing would happen to him. And nothing happened to him indeed.
I can say that though he was very powerful but his lifestyle and character were questionable.
How many months did you work in his house?
I stayed inside his house for nine months to complete the whole job. The reason was that most of the job was done at night. He won't allow you to work on the upper parts of the house during day time until he gave you the nod. And mostly at night. If you complained that it would disturb people staying with him, he would say as the owner, all I needed was his approval.
How would you describe him?
Although he wielded spiritual power but he was not a man of God. The bubble burst some years back when one of his personal aides, Mr. Adefeso traveled with him to South Africa on a missionary assignment. The aide is quite educated. He is an elderly person. That was in November 2010. And there is one thing about prophet, whenever he is angry with anybody, he would tell the church members that God is angry with such person and that anybody that relates with such a person would incur the wrath of God.
Thus, once you incur his wrath, the whole church would stop greeting you. Before they travelled to South Africa, there was an issue on ground. He was renovating the church. He engaged the services of one of his church members who sold woods and planks to supply the church.
I supervised the project and it was N750,000. He was to pay after the project. After the project, he refused to pay. And the member knew it wrecked his small business. It became an issue and it was his personal aide, Mr. Adefeso who waded in and said prophet would pay. That was when they travelled to South Africa. When they got back, we discovered they had an issue.
The aide claimed he discovered some of his secrets while on the trip but till date refused to disclose them. However, when prophet came back, he quickly started telling us the man was evil, that we should excommunicate him. I know him well, once he knew you had discovered some of his negative acts, he would blackmail you with lies. That was the same thing he did for Tope Alabi.
What are the things you discovered about him?
First, he is a chronic liar. Do you know that the money he owed he never paid back? The matter was taken to the police at Panti and he denied owing the man. He said he has paid him. I was shocked. They called me as a witness. Though I was scared but I stood for the truth. He spent over N500,000 to settle the case. And at the end we even became the victim. He specialized in turning the tide against people who speak the truth.
He would fabricate lies against such person. And the medium he used most was a soft-sell magazine. Second, I can tell you authoritatively that he sleeps with his female aides who stay in his house. He has agents who recruit ladies in the church who are not employed.
They used their situation to entice them to work and live with the prophet. And some only live with him for like three months before he would fabricate lies against them and send them parking. But none of them could disclose their ordeal because he was a god.
But what about his wife?
His wife, Joy, was staying in the upper room. She only comes down during church services. That's why most people don't really know anything about her. She dares not come down unless he gave approval.
We only discovered the truth when one of the ladies who was also the wife's aide known as Becky confessed to a pastor at Abuja that he was sleeping with her. She was dating a friend of mine who was also staying in his house. The house is so big and many of us lived with him. My friend and Becky travelled to Abuja and he introduced her to a pastor in Abuja. That one now said Becky has a secret and unless she revealed it, it would affect their relationship. It took her four days to open up that she has been sleeping with late Ajanaku. She was scared she would die after the confession but with prayer in Abuja, nothing happened to her. Although we were suspicious but she gave us instances which we were aware of and revealed how other girls too were his sex slaves.
Also, most of his members go to the church with their wealth but left poor. He was very rich. He swindled them of their wealth and virtues.
Though we have never seen him with charm before but he often told us he knows about all incantations because he had been into all sorts of occultism before he started his ministry.
He said they are all powerless compared to God's power. He is a pretender. Once he was about to discard his enemies, he would say negative things about them and since we were not privileged to see or hear from God, we believed him. That's what he used on those girls too. He bleached and encouraged the girls too to use the cream. I had to leave in 2011. I spent five years with him.
Is it true that he once had a wife?
Yes. It's no secret that he had a wife and two kids who died before he started the ministry. Aside that, he had a baby out of wedlock, but he rejected the mother.
What's the woman's name?
I don't know because he was even the one who revealed it to us when the mother came to collect the boy's allowance of N20,000. Only few aides knew. I was so close to him because I worked for him.
He had four rooms in that house which are exclusively his own. He had a particular room that if he was there for three months you won't know.
On Friday, September 20, 2013, National Encomium contacted the ministry's spokesperson, Tosin, over some of these allegations but he declined to make any comment. "Please, I have nothing to say."
I'm joining Bayern Munich for FREE, reveals Dortmund hitman Lewandowski
After repeated speculation over the summer months that the 25-year-old Poland forward would move to Pep Guardiola's camp, Lewandowski has let his contract run down and will be allowed to sign a pre-contract agreement mid-season to commit to Allianz Arena for 2014.
For the first time since staunch denials about the move, and refusals by Dortmund's manager Jurgen Klopp to hand their most valued player to their Bundesliga nemesis, Lewandowski has said he will take his chance to join Munich on a free transfer.
In response to a direct question about whether he'll commit to Signal Iduna Park in January, Lewandowski told Sport1: 'Yes, because then I can officially sign the contract.'
The stage is set for Lewandowski to slot straight into the Champions League winners' line-up after former Barcelona mentor Guardiola released German national team forward Mario Gomez to Fiorentina, paving the way for another imposing frontman.
Lewandowski's departure would leave a gaping hole in the Dortmund attack - he's slotted 58 goals in 103 appearances since his 2010 signing from Poland's Lech Poznan.
Last year he scored 36 goals in all competitions and became the first player to score four times in a Champions League semi-final in his side's 4-1 win over Real Madrid before they fell to Bayern 2-1 in the final at Wembley in May this year.
Despite Munich's greater buying power, both sides sit joint top of the Bundesliga table after six matches on 16 points with an identical goal difference
18 Year old,Female teenager found dead in hotel room
Investigations by operatives of the Edo state police command led to the arrest of Emmanuel Ajayi and another suspect who were allegedly found in the hotel room, with the girl's mobile phone in their possession. They were paraded before journalists in Benin.
Also paraded by the state commissioner of police, Foluso Adebanjo, were 20 suspects who allegedly gang raped their victims at different locations in Benin.
Amongst them were Emmanuel Okoro, Lucky Ighodaro, Moses Israel and Osakpamwan Ameye, who allegedly dragged their 20-year-old victim (names withheld) into an uncompleted building at Evboutubu area of Benin at about 10 pm and gange-raped her.
In yet another incident, Sunday Erico andOsifo Okumabo along with four others now at large, allegedly forced their 17-year-old victim into the back of their compound where they serially raped her.
Mr. Adebanjo disclosed to journalists that 44 suspected criminals were arrested bythe police in the state over alleged involvement in various criminal activities in the past few weeks, 26 of whom were paraded.
The police commissioner further disclosed that 10 of the suspects were already being prosecuted, including one James Farmer who was alleged to have been part of a gang that kidnapped a politician in the state along Emaking Junction, Irrua, Edo state where they allegedly attacked two prison officers and shot one dead while they went away with their rifle.
He called on residents in the state to be very cautious as the yuletide draws near and report suspicious persons and activities to the police.
"The war against crime and criminality is being waged relentlessly here in Edo state and I want to let the members of the public know that this is the ember months and everybody has to be security conscious. This is the time criminals want to reap where they did not sow. The people must be security conscious, they should know their neighbourhood very well and promptly report suspicious movements.
"We will continue to do our best but we want to cooperation of members of the pubic because we can't do it alone, we need the collaboration of everybody in Edo state to fight crime and criminality in the state. As you can see, there have not been any case of kidnapping in the past one week plus, we want to sustain and we can only do with the cooperation of the members of the public," Adebanjo said.
He noted that the recent stakeholders meeting the command organised few days ago was already yielding results as "people are calling us, giving us information. It is always good to work with the public, the police is part of the public and the public is part of the police."

An open letter to Suarez: Welcome back, Luis... we've missed your astonishing skill but please cut out the nonsense and behave
Welcome back. It's been a while. The season is already in full swing but English football will be all the richer for your return.
You have made it very clear you feel persecuted in this country but you should know that we have missed you.
Well, we have missed some of you.
We have missed Suarez the footballer. A footballer of extraordinary talent. We have missed your astonishing skill, your ruthless will to win, your commitment to the tackle, your competitive edge, your obsessive love of scoring, your determination to fight for the cause, your skill, your pace, your power.
We have missed your ability to change a game with a single, mazey run, your ability to trap a ball with the lace of your boot, to land a ball at the foot of a team-mate, seemingly at any pace and at any angle.
But we haven't missed what comes with all that. We understand that a competitive professional will sometimes push the boundaries of fair play but your record is something else entirely. Your persecution complex is totally misguided given your track record, as was your planned escape route from Anfield this summer.
Sometimes your behaviour has been pathetic — the diving and the tantrums — which do not befit such a magnificent footballer. Sometimes your behaviour has been offensive and unacceptable — the biting and the racist language — that do not befit any member of a civilised society, let alone a supposed role model for children around the world (and you must be aware that you are).
In the wake of all your hysterical nonsense, your club have stood

Syria Crisis: Assad Vows To Hand Over Chemical Weapons Ahead Of US-Russia Talks
(AFP) – President Bashar al-Assad vowed to hand over Syria’s chemical weapons Thursday as Moscow and Washington were set to begin high-stakes talks on a Russian plan to avert US-led military action against his regime.
Speaking to Russian television, Assad said Syria would place its chemical weapons under foreign control in line with Moscow’s proposal.
“Syria is handing over chemical weapons under international control because of Russia,” Assad was quoted as telling Rossiya 24 state news channel.
“US threats have not affected the decision,” he said, adding that Syria planned to file documents to the United Nations to sign an agreement on chemical arms.
Assad’s move came as the US and Russia prepared to meet in Geneva for talks on the proposal for Syria to open its doors to inspectors and eliminate its chemical weapons.
Backed by a large team of experts, US Secretary of State John Kerry was to meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Officials from the two countries were to pore over Moscow’s plan — an 11th-hour proposal that led US President Barack Obama to put off threatened US military action against the Syrian regime.
Washington wants to see if Assad is serious about putting his chemical weapons stockpile under international control, amid allegations the regime used sarin gas in an attack near Damascus last month.
Ahead of the talks, a senior US official said Washington was urging Syria to “declare all of their stockpile quickly.”
The official said Washington would be asking for specific action from Damascus to test the regime’s sincerity and discussing the “different modalities” of destroying Assad’s chemical weapons and production facilities.
“It’s doable, but difficult,” the official said.
Lavrov voiced optimism ahead of the talks, saying during a visit to Kazakhstan: “I am sure that there is a chance for peace in Syria… We cannot let it slip away.”
In a speech quoted by Russian news agencies, Lavrov said he was prepared to “ensure Syria’s adherence to the chemical weapon ban convention.”
The United States and its main backer of military strikes on Syria France have warned they will not allow the chemical weapons plan to become a delaying tactic in Syria’s brutal war, saying the threat of military force remains on the table.
Revealing details of the Russian proposal for the first time Thursday, daily Kommersant said Moscow had given Washington a four-step plan for the weapons handover.
Quoting a Russian diplomatic source, Kommersant said the plan would see Damascus join the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), declare the locations of its chemical arms, allow OPCW inspectors access and finally arrange for destruction of the arsenal.
Syria’s opposition has denounced the plan, warning it will only lead to more deaths in a conflict that has already killed more than 110,000 people since March 2011.
The commander of the Free Syrian Army, Selim Idriss, said in a video posted on YouTube that the rebels categorically rejected the Russian initiative.
And the Syrian National Coalition opposition group said the plan is a “political manoeuvre aimed at buying time” for Assad and would be a “green light” to other regimes to use chemical weapons.
Russian President Vladimir Putin meanwhile made an unusual personal appeal to the American people to reject military action, in an opinion piece in the New York Times.
“A strike would increase violence and unleash a new wave of terrorism,” Putin wrote. “It could throw the entire system of international law and order out of balance.”
Putin welcomed US willingness to consider the Moscow initiative, but warned any strikes without the approval of the United Nations Security Council, where Moscow wields a veto, would destroy the credibility of the world body.
Russia is a traditional ally of Assad, and Moscow, backed by China, has blocked any attempt to sanction his regime through the United Nations.
The talks in Geneva were expected to last two to three days and also focus on revitalising efforts to organise a peace conference aimed at ending Syria’s civil war.
As well as Lavrov, Kerry was due to meet UN-Arab League envoy Lakhdar Brahimi to discuss UN-backed efforts to bring the Assad regime to the table with the opposition rebels.
Western officials have claimed the sudden renewal of diplomatic efforts on Syria was the result of the military threats, but have questioned whether Assad can be trusted.
Washington alleges that some 1,400 people died in the chemical attack on August 21 and was rallying support for a military response when the Russian proposal emerged.
French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said Thursday that a much-awaited report by UN inspectors into the attack will “probably” be published on Monday.
“It will say that there was a chemical massacre,” Fabius told French radio.

Police Prevent Governor Amaechi From Entering Government House In Port Harcourt
Policemen, last night, barred Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State and his guests mainly former speakers in the country from accessing the governor’s residence through the private gate of the state Government House, Port Harcourt.
Condemning the action, the state Commissioner of Information and Communications, Mrs Ibim Semenitari told us on phone that the governor and his guests were forced by the Police allegedly on the orders of the State Police Commissioner, Mr Joseph Mbu to go through the main gate of the Government House.
Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State complaining of the police action, yesterday.
Describing the action of the state Police boss as an abuse of federalism and political authority, the commissioner said no official explanation was adduced for the action of the state Police command.
Wondering why the governor of the state should be stopped from accessing his residence through the private gate of the Government House, Semenitari said the action of the Police was strange and a violation of the tenets of popular democracy.
“This happened around 8pm this night (last night). The Police stopped the governor and his guests, former Speakers in the country from accessing the governor’s residence through his private gate. The governor had to go through the main gate. This is a clear abuse of federalism, power and rule of law”, Mrs Semenitari said.
It is not true — Police
Meantime, when contacted for comment on the allegation, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Angela Agabe said it was not true. According to her, the Police only stopped Governor Amaechi’s faction of the PDP from setting up their secretariat at 38 Forces Avenue, a building opposite the old GRA Police station.
The Forces Avenue road where the secretariat is located connects the back gate of the Government House, which serves as the private gate of the governor.
Another top security officer, who spoke to us said the Police had to act on a clear instruction that they should stop any attempt by the Amaechi’s faction to set up a factional secretariat of the PDP in the state because there is only one legitimate PDP in the country.
The source continued that the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Joseph Mbu had not been in the state for some days so there was no way he could have ordered that the governor be stopped from accessing his residence through the back gate.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs Semenitari said a total of 102 former Speakers were with the governor when the incident occurred.
“102 former Speakers were with the governor when it happened”, she said

There`s definitely a top secret popular broadcaster, Dayo Adeneye a.k.a D1 would not want anybody to know if he has his way but unfortunately the beans has been spilled. The business partner of the famous Kenny Ogungbe of PrimeTime Entertainment fame is sure having sleepless night over his amorous affair with a lady who`s based in the UK.
According to sources, Dayo Adeneye must have bitten more than he can chew as his unguarded extra marital affairs has started to hunt him as plans to get rid of the pregnancy which his UK mistress had for him was abortive leaving D1 at crossroads.
The source who`s close to the lovebirds hinted that the once bubbly Susan is now a sad lady as she now has to nurture and fend, all alone for her almost 2 years old child, a bouncing baby girl who`s D1`s perfect replica.
We were told that, D1 had actually been strict with the use of condom during the constant relationship that lasted almost 4 years until he decided to go it `raw` one fateful evening.
Weeks after, the result came and our dear D1 stood his ground that it must be an abortion, though Susan who`s then in her early 30s tried all she could but unfortunately the baby who`s now named Rebecca refused to be aborted given credence to its Biblical meaning of ~To Bind~, so the baby has forever bind the union.
Rebecca`s mum who works in the UK is sick and tired of everything, according to sources, she`s not asking for too much, not marriage this time but for the broadcaster to take up his responsibility and all this she has tried to pursue in a solemn and subtle way without success.
In our facts finding mission, we tried to get in touch with Dayo Adeneye for his own side of the story, when this office got him, he was so attentive but the moment he heard the name, Susan Ekpe, he quickly cut off the phone, and we however rang him back severally but he ignored the calls.

Man who had sex with a goat is jailed for six weeks
Robert Newman, 23, attacked the animal in a barn in Devizes, Wiltshire, and left it so badly injured after the sick night time attack that it had to be treated by a vet.
Newman had initially denied one charge of having sex with a living animal between April 5 and April 16 this year, but later changed his plea and admitted the offence.
He had already been banned from every farm in the country in a bid to protect livestock, but magistrates jailed him for six weeks today after hearing a victim impact statement from the goat’s female owner.
The woman, who was not named, said: “My husband is worried about me being on the farm on my own.
“This person has cost us a considerable amount of money because we have had to install security cameras.
“We have also had to pay for vets fees and antibiotics for the injuries sustained by the goat.”
Defending Newman, solicitor Anne Ellery told North West Wiltshire Magistrates Court that his behaviour was a “symptom of isolation rather than depravity”.
She said: “This is a young man suffering from isolation.
“His understanding of what happened is unknown to him.
“Treatment is certainly something that he will need to seek.
“His delay in admitting the behaviour was because of the embarrassment and shame that went with it.”
In his own statement, Newman said: “I don’t want to be this bad person anymore, I just want to get on with my life and do good.
“I want to stand before you and say I am sorry and I just want to be back with my family.”

Furious whispers have insisted, since Beverly Osu was first announced as a housemate for the just concluded Big Brother Africa: The Chase reality show, that TV personality, Denrele Edun, played a major role in her entry.
In an interview with Hot FM in Abuja, Denrele was said to have confirmed the rumours when he asked if the rumours were true.

‘In her (Beverly) own case, I kept telling her oya (sic) start
writing, she was a little non-challant, before we even got Beverly to

give us that extra push in this country which is what we lack, the
industry is wide enough for everyone.
